Currently, there are only 10 digit space to enter information in Sort string..whats the process to increase the space to 20 ...as far i know 10 is standard

pl take into consideration Bill comments'. However if you can just elaborate the requirement why the 10 characters are not sufficient perhaps we can think of some other options as well.

Bob, be careful changing this data element directly (not recommended). I'd suggest doing an OSS note search for this

You are correct.
Data element SORTP - Sort string has a data type CHAR and length of 10.
To change it, go to SE11, select data type as SORTP and make required changes.
