DP macros, batchjob & requirements for saving data.

Hello all

Perhaps some of you know this or could point me to a source of knowledge.

Question 1

In our DP setup we run some calculations in the background. If no there are no changes to the figures calculated then the macro does not save the results. In the log you get "the data is not saved" as the message for these entries.

Does anyone know if it is possible to force a save via batch macro? We have some data in there that is incorrect, but it will become correct if the calculation is run.

But since no changes have been made to the incorrect data the calculation will not touch it as it is now. We have millions of records so it's not really practical to go through them manually.

Question 2

What exactly is the definition of "changed" in a macro? When will batch macro execution actually detect a record as changed? Do the numbers have to change or could one somehow tag the record as changed?

Any ideas much appreciated.

Hi

I think most of your answers are covered in the following SAP Note:

[Note 412429 - Defining jobs with macros|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=412429]

This describes the key reasons why most data is not saved or why certain macros seem not to proces in background but do in interactive.

Ian
