In SAP APO, Please let me know where is the setting done for the resource to be constrained or unconstrained. Kinly send me a screen shot.
kind regards,
Abhik
Your resource is responsible for production. Production capacity could be a constraint for SNP optimizer planning.
In optimizer profile you mention, 'production capacity' is a constraint (general constraints tab).

Hi,
Depends on the planning tool you are using and the type of resource used. You can use the PP/DS bucket capacity if you execute a bucket-oriented capacity check to find out whether sufficient capacity is available for an order in a certain period, such as a day or a shift. You can use the bucket-oriented capacity check in the CTP process and in block planning.
If you choose the setting From Time-Continuous Capacity, the system calculates the available capacity of the PP/DS bucket from the time-continuous capacity of the resource. You choose this setting if you use the resource for the CTP Process.
The available capacity of the PP/DS bucket vector is calculated according to the following formula:
Bucket Capacity of a Single-Activity Resource = Productive time of the resourse x Factor
Bucket Capacity of a Multi-Activity Resource = Productive time of the resource x Number of capacities x Factor
So a resource can be infinitely planned if the type is Multi-activity or Single-mixed. Also, you have options in the planning run where you can switch on 'Infinite Planning' if need be.

Vinod
Are you talking about finite and infinite resource?
