Hi All,
i have a very general question on netweaver abap system performance.
under what conditions would you regard a seperation of the central instance and the database on two physical hosts concerning performance?
do you have experience of the potential administrative "overhead" of such a configuration?
many thanks for your thoughts.
Martin
Hi,
IMHO, it's interesting to separate the CI and the database if you are limited by hardware resources and I think specially about CPU and/or memory.
If not, you will not get a performance increase.
On 64 bit hardware, we did not hit any of these 2 limitations (with 8 cpus and 32 GB ram).
We only separated CI and DB on a sytem which needs to be HA and so to run on an MCSC cluster.
There is not much administration overhead. Just a little bit more configuration (the standalone gataway part to be able to run BRTOOLS and DB13 jobs).
Otherwise using a cluster has much more administration overhead...
Regards,
Olivier
