Hi
In my recent interview..
Interviewer asked me a strange question.
he asked..
"why system search access in ascending order?"
means , we know that in pricing, system search for condition record though access sequence. and in access sequence it will search by one by one from top. like Access 10 -> 20 -> 30 ->
he asked me, why it come from top to bottom?
can anybody answer this?

That is the basic functionality of pricing in SAP. The way you maintain accesses in a access sequence are usually more specific to more generic and that is the reason why the system searches in ascending order.

Hi Partha,
The intention of the question was actually different.
When you create acc seq and link condition tables to it, the basic rule is that the most specific table should be at first, followed by a little general condition table, followed by the most general.
If this is done, then it is obvious that the most specific data will be searched first. If there is no data available for the most specific criteria, then it will go the second most specific and so on.
For ex. There are 3tables as follows.
10 S.org/DC/Divsion/Customer/Material
20 S.Org/D.C./Division/Material
30 S.Org/Material
In this case, as 10 has teh most specific data, it should be searched first for the condition record. When there is no data, only then it should go for 20.
If your numbering is improper, say you number 10as 30, 20 as 10 , whatever is applicable for general criteria, will become applicable for most specific criteria also.
Hope this helps you to get the answer for this question.

Hello,
That is the reason we define the step. The lower step will have the first priority, It will check 10, then to 20, to the next ...so on...

Pricing is determined by condition technique.
The aim of your company is to give best pricing to your customer. Let' say you have prices based on customer / material, you have prices based on material, you have prices based on customer.
In access sequence, you enter the most specific access table followed by next access table i.e. you maintain from the most specific entry to the most general.
Let's say you have maintained access sequence as
10 Customer/material
20 Customer
30 Material
so during price determination, system first searches first access. In case there is a condition record, for this customer and material, system copies the price and stops searching other access.
In case there is no record for customer / material, it searches for condition records for customer and then condition records for material in that order, until it determines a price.
If there are no record found, it gives a message no pricing record found.

Condition records are maintained for Condition table..
You assign access number to each condition table in Acess sequesnce.
Lower access number will be given higher priority by SAP.
It will basically gives regulated format in selection of condition records.
