Hi,

Qty & Value are the parameters of Inventory Management.

Mostly all materials need to be valued against Qty (Example Material type ROH) & some materials are not valued but stock alone updated.(Example Material type UNBW)

i.e if you select a material with UNBW say if GR is done, only Qty is updated in our system but value ot the material will not be updated.

The above combination is maintained at the Valuation area.

It also acts an important factor while doing Automatic Account Determination.

To your question some are maintained & some are not is the business decision.

Hi Vengat,

Check the config setting as mentioned below to solve your problem

tcode OMS2. This is MM config (if req concern your MM team)

Select your material type and then in Dialog Structure there will be Quantity/value updating double click on it.

Against your required valuation area and material type you need to tick the check box for Quantity and value updating both and then try creating order.

hi

Quantity Updating Specifies that the material is managed on a quantity basis in the material master record for the relevant valuation area.

Value Update: Specifies that the material is managed on a value basis in the material master record for the valuation area concerned.

The values are updated in the respective G/L accounts at the same time.

as you said at for some material there boxes are checked and for some materials boxes are not selected

the Qty and Value are updated based on valuation area

Valuation Area

Organizational level at which the material is valuated. A valuation area can be one of the following:

Plant: All plants belonging to a company code, in which case the valuation area is the company code

1: Based on valuation area and as required some material types are selected and some are not

2: Based on material Type we select Qty and Value updation: like for NORM for your valuation area (and also might be for plant valuation) all boxes are selected and for material type KMATConfigurable materials it is not selcted

Hello Mani,

Quantity/ Value update check boxes determines whether the material should be valuated by the quantity or value or both

These configuration will be done at material type level... so that it will apply for all materials under that material type

for ex:--- Take ROH (raw Material) for this quantity and value update both check boxes will be ticked .As this material type materilas to be managed inventory ( stock) and as well

as value

Depending upon the material type only we will decide wat to be checked

Hope I have given some idea......

If u have any doubt , please come up

Hi

This is mainly based on the what MATERIAL TYPE we will be using based on that we can accommodate value and quantity field getting updated for example FOR ROH we have to use both Value and Quantity field getting updated for UNBW we can use only quantity field since the value field will not be getting updated since it was Non-valuated material type

Hi

Together with the plant, the material type determines the material's inventory management requirement using the fileds Qty update & Value update that is:

Whether changes in quantity are updated in the material master record

Whether changes in value are also updated in the stock accounts in financial accounting

If you want to see the Qty & Value against the Material for that Material type.. then you need to check both Qty & Value Check boxes..

If you do not check then the procurement is considered as for Account Assignment & you need to Give Account assignment in Purchasing documents..

You can test your Self by..

First Check Qty & Value update for your Material type & create material Raise PO > GR> MIRO..

and check the Accounting view of your material.

Then remove the check Boxes for Qty & Value for the Same Material type & Create a New material

and raise PO>GR>MIRO

and check the Accounting view of your material
