Requirement type

Friends,

As we know requirement type in the sales order is dtermined based on Strategy group in mate master data OR Item category and MRP Type.

Somebody please suggest what is requirement type determinaiton for Make to stock, Make to Order, Third party Order, Individual Purchase order.

Hello,

The process of finding the Requirements type is same for any business scenario such as make to stock, make to order, third party etc.

In any normal sales order you can have each line item representing make to stock, make to order, thrid party, individual purchase order etc......the system has to distinguish between each line item, understand the type of requirement of the material and then transfer the same to MRP dept.

To carry out this process, SAP adopts the following strategy.

Strategy for Determining the Requirements Type in a Sales Order -

1. First, an attempt is made to find a requirements type using the strategy group in the material master (MRP3).

2. If the strategy group has not been maintained, the system will determine it using the MRP group (MRP 1).

3. If the MRP group has not been defined, the system uses the material type instead of the MRP group when accessing the corresponding control tables.

4. If no requirements type is found here, the system assumes a special rule and attempts to find a requirements type with the aid of the item category and the MRP type (MRP 1).

5. If this is not possible, a last attempt is made to find a requirements type with the item category only.

6. If the last attempt fails, the system declares the transaction as not relevant for the availability check or transfer of requirements.

The order of priority is as follows -

1. Strategy group (MRP 3)

2. MRP group (MRP 1)

3. Material type

4. MRP type + Item category (SPRO – Determination of requirements type using transaction)

5. Item category.

Thanks for advice. However please tell me what would be requirement type for different business process like MTO, MTS, Third party, Individual purchase order.
