Connection Timeout Error

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I am trying to send a file from MDM to ECC in the FTP folder. Everything, the configurations and the connections are fine. But i m getting this error

"Error occurred while connecting to the FTP server "psimdm:21": java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect".

Can anyone please tell me what kind of error is this? Is this a netwrok problem or server problem? And how can i eliminate it?

Thanks,

Shweta.

Hi shweta

You can ping FTP server by using transaction SM49

there click on PING after that in the new screen givew the URl or Ip of your FTP and then press F8 or click on screen

Then it will show your status of FTP server and will tell how many packets are delivered and how many are lost

I pinged the FTP server in command prompt itself. There it shows

no. of packets sent= no. of packets received. But the round trips are all 0.

Hi Sweta,

if there is 0% loss of data while you ping the FTP server then other case arises.

the port is open of not

can you check the port.

telnet that just in cmd prompt

use Telnet <FTPserver address> <port name>

if this is not open then contact the FTP vendor to open that.

Hi,

Check the following:

1) FTP adapter parameters along with directory path.

2) Ping the IP or server name for command prompt and check the response.

3) Check the firewall settings.

4) check the read write access on FTP folder.

5) check the channel is active.

6) may be because of network is down or FTP server is not accessible.
