in simple terms net weight belongs to the product itself and gross wt refers to any packaging + add ons.

Gross weight is a term that generally is found in commerce or trade applications, and refers to the gross or total weight of a product and its packaging.
Conversely, net weight refers to the intrinsic weight of the product itself, discounting the weight of packaging or other materials.

Dear rashmi
Let us assume you are selling a product and the piece weight is 2 kgs. If this material can accommodate in a carton say 10 pieces, then your net weight is 10 x 2kgs = 20 kgs.
For gross weight, you have to add the carton weight also which means, 20 kgs + carton weight 0.5kgs = 20.50 kgs.
thanks

Hi
Gross weight is the total weight of the material - (Base UOM) which may include the packing for that material.
Net weight is the weight of the material exclusively.
This is not an SAP terminology and commonly used in the realtime business.
Thanks,
Ravi
