Hi Experts,
How can I create repository by unarchiving existing repository?
What is the difference between load repository > Update indices and load repository> immediate?
What happen when we mount and unmount repository?
Thanks
Hi,
1) How can I create repository by unarchiving existing repository?
A) To create the repository by unarchiving,
Go to the console hierarchy tree in MDM console ->Right click on MDM repository and choose
Unarchive repository from the context menu.
Then , MDM opens dialog box which needs DBMS Server name , login ,password , repository name
and archive.Give according to that, for repository name you can give whatever name you want and
choose archive folder which you want to unarchive from archive folder of MDM server.
Then click on FINISH.After that , MDM unarchives the repository by taking some time.
Whenever unarchiving is finished , MDM displays dialog box whether it is sucessful or not.
Generally archiving and Unarchiving useful to transfer the repository from one server to another server.
What happen when we mount and unmount repository?
A) Mounting means accesing existing repository from MDM server in to MDM Console. If multiple MDM
console using same MDM server and repository is already mounted, we don't have to mount the
repository.
Unmounts means just reverse of monting that means removes the corresponding repository from the
console.
Hope it helps.

But when I want to unarchive one repository then I have to give archive file name and in Repository Name can we give any new name or we have to use an existing repository name?

Hi Shalini,
Update indices --> If you make changes to the MDM repository schema such as adding or deleting tables or fields the Update Indices option must be used when you reload the MDM repository
Even when you choose Immediate, MDM automatically updates those indices that it knows to be out of date as a result of changes you make to the MDM repository data through the MDM Client. However, when you modify the structure of the repository itself through the MDM Console, MDM cannot know precisely which indicesneed to be updated. In these cases, you should choose Update Indices rather than Immediate when you load the repository.
Mount and Unmount:
Mount repository option mounts the repository on the Server and you can use it for the operations by everyone.
Unmount repository unloads the repository from the Server. It does NOT delete the repository but just unloads. It can be mounted again.
Hope this helps,

Hi Shalini,
Regarding UnArchieve Repository:
First you have to create the Archieve of the repository by right cklicking on the required repository and select Archieve Repository option. This will create the .a2a file.
Now you can use this option to create the new repository either on the same server or on the different server.
Right click on MDM Server and select UnArchieve Repository option and give the name of the repository and other option is to select the existing repository and right click and select UnArchieve Repository option this will override the existing repository.
Immediate and UpdateIndices:
In the Server folder there is Accelarators folders which consists of the details of each and everything regarding the repository.
Immediate option will load the repository without updating these Accelerators
UpdateIndices recreates these Accelarators file
It is recommended to use Update Indices whenever repository structure is modified.
Mount and Unmount:
Mount repository option mounts the repository on the Server and you can use it for the operations
Unmount repository removes the repository from the Server.
