Is there any difference in installation of SAP versions?

Basically Iam an ABAPer and I have installed SAP R/3 IDES 4.7(at my home) and now I want to install ECC 6.0.

the general installation procedure are same ,

the harware requirements will vary (Ram ,HDD)

The difference is, that to install ERP 6.0 you need to have a Solution Manager installed first because you will need to generate an installation key for it.

Besides that, you may need to configure your operating system differently, using newer versions of Java etc. - All that is covered in the installation guide.

If you installed a 4.7 using R3SETUP (instead of sapinst) it is VERY different.
