Hi MM gurus!

Can anybody explain the procedures to implement Shelf Life Management? It will involve Batch Management. What are the main steps to follow?

Thanks in anticipation!

Hi,

If Shelf life mamangement is active for a apart no., you need to maintain the min. shelf life period - (ex. 60 days) in mat master.

system will allways ask the Production date during GR. Based of the given production date and the Shelf life period in Material master, system will allow to post the GR.

Similarly during Goods issue also...production date has to be entered...If the product was manufactured before 60 days, system will not allow topost the goods issue for Inhouse use or external delivery.

Hope this will help you..

Thanks,

Hi, thanks for your info.

But I am still wondering the steps of SLED configuration. And I also need some tips for IMG.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Check the following path:

SPRO->Logistic-General->Batch management->Shelf life expiration data

->1.Maintain Period indicator

-> 2.Set Expiration date check

2.1For Plant

&2.2 Movement type mark the shelf life indicator .

During creation of Material you can set like in MM01.....In Gen Plant data/storage 1 view, Maintain required values in the Field of .....Total Self Life ( lets say 90days) and in Min. Remaining shelf life ( is 60days).....

When you do GR for this material the System will ask for Date of Production of material( u enter here0 ...from that the system automatically calculates it SLED....and it checks the Remaining shelf life Expiry Date also...and if it falls earlier than that...the system will give you Error message and will not allow you to Post the GR...(example:1, If ur receiving today ie..16.04.2008 and production date is 20.02.2008{ falls within 60days, then system will post GR, example:2, If ur receiving today ie..16.04.2008 and production date is 18.01.2008{ not falls within 60days} , then system will not post GR.

Hi, thanks for your info.

How about batch management? Do you mean it's not necessary to set up batch management here?

Hi

The follwing infirmation will help u

Total shelf life

Period for which the material will keep in total, that is, from the date

of production to the shelf life expiration date.

Use

o Value entered in the material master record

The system assumes that the date entered upon goods receipt is the

material's date of production. It then calculates a shelf life

expiration date from the date of production plus the total shelf

life.

o No value entered in the material master record

The system assumes that the date entered upon goods receipt is the

material's shelf life expiration date.

In both cases, the system updates the shelf life expiration date in the

batch master record and in the material document if the goods receipt is

accepted.

Minimum Remaining Shelf Life

Minimum amount of time for which the material must keep upon goods

receipt for the goods receipt to be accepted by the system.

YOU HAVE CONFIGURE IN

OMJ5 T code and maitain The SLED parameters in Plant data 1 in material master

Check Best Before Date/Production Date

Indicates that the shelf life expiration date check at the time of good

receipts in the plant is active.

Use

If the expiration date check is active in the plant, the user must ente

either the shelf life expiration date or the production date of the

material at the time of a goods receipt if:

o The expiration date check is active for the movement type

o The minimum remaining shelf life has been defined in the material

master record or in the purchase order
