Conducting the copy client through the tape

Hello,

We are implementing SAP ECC 6.0 for ABAP on System i (iSeries), i5/OS V5R4.

Our System i server is divided into 3 partitions, to run the three systems DEV, TQA & PRO.

We recently had a performance problem with our PRO system, so we decided to move the TQA system to another remote System i server, to add its resources to the PRO system.

Is it possible to conduct the copy client, from the PRO client to the TQA client through the tape, i.e. to export the PRO client onto the PRO file system, then to save the exported data on tape, then restore the saved data to the TQA file system, then finally import the restored data onto the TQA client ?

Hello Reda,

You could perfrom "client transport" with Tcode SCC8 and SCC7.

But very likely it will be much easier to perfrom homogeneous system copy (DB/library copy), even copy the whole system (LPAR) to the target server.
