I need to expose XI service via http adapter. Is it a good pratice to use the sap provided sap\xi\adapter_plain service or should I create a custom service under the default host (for e.g mycompany\xi\adapter_plain) or a new virtual host?
I dont think you need to do that..did you try accessing it without adding a virtual server..?

it works fine with the standard service. I vaguely remember reading that it is a best practice to use custome service instead of standard service. What do customers do usually, use standard service or will the create a custom service to handle http requests. One benefit I could think of is, with custom service, I could customize the logon secuirty methods and it will be safe when there is an upgrade.
Any thoughts?
