Hi,
I am a certified functional consultant in SAP PP (Production Planning) and MM (Materials Management) Modules. I am learnt from internet that SAP will be concentrating more on Netweaver Technologies in the future. I would like to expand my knowledge horizon from SAP functional to SAP Netweaver. Please give your opinion about scope for functional consultants in SAP Netweaver Technologies.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Anant Joshi
Hi,
SAP Netweaver is a suite of different technologies. Each technology does have a basic pre-requisite although its not a mandate.
SAP Netweaver Mobile Infrastructure: Knowledge of core Java is essential. Knowledge of other mobile software would be an advantage.
SAP Netweaver Enterprise Portal: Knowledge of core java, jsp,s and advanced java is a must.
For webdynpro Java, you need to have knowledge of java and for webdynpro ABAP, you need to have knowledge of ABAP.
SAP Netweaver Business Intelligence: Knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts and reporting tools would be helpful.
SAP Netweaver Master Data Management: Knowledge of SQL and oracle would be handy.
SAP Netweaver Exchange Infrastructure: Knowledge of ABAP and or core Java (Proxies, User defined functions and mappings) would be helpful.
SAP Netweaver Web Application Server: Knowledge of Basis and a bit of R/3 would be helpful.
Do let me know in case you need any more details.
Hope this helps
Regards
Kiran..

Hi,
Netweaver techology stack:
1) People integration: EP
2) INformation integartion: Business intelligence and Master data manafgement.
3) Process integration: XI
4) Application: ABAP, java etc.
SAP XI is an integaration tool which is used to integrate SAP and NON sap systems.
As far as function aspect is convern which u have that will not be used more, some time it may be used if ur integrating the MM modules of SAP. for example u r getting the MM details from file and u r posting MM IDOC in SAP thats it no more functional knowledge will be used.
I will give u some of the responsibilities of SAP XI architect u can relate these according to ur functional skill sets.
1) Understand the business landscpae of client anddesign the solutions.
2) Understanding of the non sap and sap systems and use of different adapters that again comes in design solutions.
many more.

Hi Anant
SAP XI has a wide scope and high values in market
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) enables you to implement cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, uses open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers those services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape:
● Modeling and design of messages, transformations, and cross-component integration processes
● Configuration options for managing collaborative processes and message flow
● Runtime for message and process management
● Adapter Engine for integrating heterogeneous system components
● Central monitoring for monitoring message flow and processes
SAP XI supports internal company scenarios and cross-company scenarios.

If your new SAP XI , then its better to read TBIT. Below are the links of TBIT
which are very helpful in understanding the End-to-end process of XI. And you can even do some exercies here which very helpful.
