Dear Experts,
While client importing, log file is occupying more space in my DEV server.
its already occupied 240GB Currently i have only 70GB free space.
How can i reduce this file size now?Client import is still running on my DEV Server.
If this log file occupied remaining my 70GB, what i suppose to do?
Please suggest me.
(4.7, SQL2000, Win 2003 Server)

You can shrink this log file (290gb) by using management studio.
Take a full backup of your database.
in the management studio, select your database and right click. you can fine option for shrinking. there select the file which you want to shrink. you can find current size and used space. and the target size to be shrink also you can find. you can easily reduce this log file from 290gb to 300mb approximately.
it will take only maximum of 10 minutes. and your database will release the total 290gb space.
i think you are not scheduled maintenance plan for backup the log file.
schedule it for every 30 minutes to reduce this type of issues.
Make sure that you should take full backup before shrinking.

Please take a transaction log backup..This will truncate the data inside the tlog and u can avail the whole space..

Shrink the file size from GBs to MBs using Query. after that follow your Procedures.
