About "SAP Enterprise Services Explorer"

Hi forum,

our dev team already use .Net connector with success from few years.

Now we want to use VS 2005 so we check "SAP Enterprise Services Explorer".

A question: in a landscape with an old R/3 release such as 4.6C (Solaris 10 UltraSparc + Oracle 9.2), can I use "SAP Enterprise Services Explorer" or do we need a recent ERP release such as ECC 6.0 based on WAS ?

In case that R/3 4.6C is not supported can we use other NW04s already installed (such a BI, XI, ecc.) system as "bridge"

Regards.

Ganimede Dignan.

Hi,

I hope the following answer will help you to understand more the landscape details:

ESE is based on SAP SR as its API for Search and discover the services.

Web services can be pushed from backend in SR if it is based on NW04S Sp09 or 710 SP1. In ERP terms, it should be SAP ECC 6.0 onwards.

Old R/3 systems e.g. 4.6 C, they are not web servers. This means no web service can be developed and published in SR in those systems. These systems can be integrated via XI and the functionality can be exposed as web services with this help of XI. Publication of these exposed services in XI can be possible in 710 release from SP4 onwards.

Nadav
