Hello,
I have the following platfrom:
- System R/3 4.7 with Linux and SAP DB. Target system
- External system with SQL Server. Source system
I have to load information from source system (external system) to target system (R/3 system).
I revised the sapnote 738371 and I think about this conecction not is possible because the operative system of the R/3 system is Linux.
Could you help me in order to clarify this issue ...?
Best regards,
Winsor
Yes - you´re right. To do a database connect you need to have the database clients for the target database - and they don´t exist for SQL Server.

Dear Winsor,
yes, using Windows as platform for your application server enables you to connect to the Microsoft SQL Server. Combinations of operating systems for databases and application servers can be found the the SAP [Product Availability Matrix (PAM)|https://service.sap.com/pam].
Thanks,
Hannes
