We are setting up the SAP Netweaver Java on Suse Linux Trial in VMWare.

We require to restart the Netweaver Server several times. Is there a possibilty to restart the Netweaver Server without restarting the whole Suse Linux Server Operating System?

In the home directory for the user of netweaver, you should have two files to start and stop sap. you can use commands stopsap to stop and startsap to startsap again.

There are no startsap and stopsap files in the home directory for the user of netweaver.

I took a look into: home>ctbadm. There are only several starsap_log, stopsap_.log files.

And I also do not know where to type in startsap or stopsap.

Did you try typing the commands stopsap & startsap? the scripts are in /sapmnt/SID/exe. If the installation is done right, the PATH variable should include this directory.

I've found the files. Clicking on them offers: Run in terminal or just run.

I tried both, but nothing happens.

Where can I see if its shutting down.

I 've started Netweaver Status from the desktop, but the opened terminal still shows:

...

All processes are running.

Dsipstatus: Green

...

PS: Even this is out of scoop of SAPNW, and related to Linux: Pls tell me where I put the commands startsap and stopsap if I would like to execute it by command/shell?

The log files are in the home directory of <sid>adm. I am not familiar with the linux version you are using, but in unix, you open a terminal session and login as <sid>adm. From here you can type stopsap & startsap. You do not need to do any thing else.

Executing in Filesystem > netweaver > sap > CTB > exe > stopsap ( shell script)

nothing happens.

And in Gnome Terminal (Command line terminal)

ivml2005:~ # stopsap

bash: stopsap: command not found

Hello Deniz,

startsap and stopsap have the folllowing syntax :

startsap [db|r3|j2ee|all|check] [<instance>]

you could use startsap/stopsap to start/stop any of the db or r3 or j2ee or any particular instance.

e.g.

startup db

startsap r3

startsap j2ee (just j2ee part)

similarly for stopsap

if you have multiple instance you could use the instance ABC as

startsap ABC

If you just want to restart any particular process of j2ee engine, you could use jcmon.

Hope that helps.

What is reason for the restart, is the a reason to shutdown the DB.

For NW Java, if you want to stop/start the J2EE engine

you can use stopsap <j2ee instance eg. JC00> and startsap <JC00>
