Download old sapdb Versions

Hi All,

I was just wondering if it's possible to download older SAPDB versions.

We need to migrate an old 3.1I system to new hardware and I can't find sapdb 6.2.10 anywhere.

For another migration I need sapdb 7.4 and can't find that either.

Does anybody have a hint?

please ask your SAP custoerm advocat where to get the software for 31I installation kit.

the DVD with newest available MaxDB Version for 31I should be available on SWDC -> Patches -> Database Patches -> MaxDB -> DVD

Which DVD you exactly need is described in the note of 31I-Installation. Sorry I don't know the number.

DVD or CD with SAPDB Version 6.2.10 is not available anymore.

During upgrade from 6.2.10 to 7.x a migration of the complete data located in the database is necessary with Migration backup to get the 4 Kbyte Pages migrated into 8 Kbyte pages.

MaxDb Development Support strongly recommend to use the alternative way with new installation with MaxDb 7.5 or higher and using R3load to unload/load the data.

What I meant was the installation CD for 3.1I.

As my company only did upgrade from various releases to 3.1I we don't have the installation CDs.

I can't find them anywhere on the service marketplace.

Thanks for the hint with the export. That will be a lot easier than to migrate the database. I think we will follow this approach from now on.

6.2.10 is out of maintenance since 31.12.2002 - > see OSS note 422058.

I would recommend to do a heterogenious system copy of your productive system.

Install 3.1 I with newest available MaxDB Version and use R3load to unload the data from 6.2.10 and reload the data into 7.5 or 7.6.

Hi Bastian,

for SAP 3.1I MaxDB 7.5 is already released.

So you should defitively go for a upgrade of the database to 7.2/7.3 and than to 7.5.

Basically this setup as a whole is out of maintenance now for years. Best idea would be to contact SAP Support in order to get help with the migration to the current releases of the software.

Hi Lars,

those were my thoughts as well.

Thing is, I don't want to do the db upgrade on the productive machine. Therefore I need to to a copy of the system first

. I could then test the upgrade on the new system.

Even if I'd do the upgrade on the productive machine and something goes wrong, I would have to install the old 6.2 database software again.

That's why I want to have to old installation cd, too. Just in case....
