Hi Kavitha,

No, you can't start SPAM and SAINT at the same time, Since both wil using the PAT01,02and03 tables in the same time, so it doesn't work if you start in same time or simultaniously.

Its better to start one by one.

Let me know if you need any more help

Cheers,

Praveen.

you cannot install an add-on with SPAM... but you can install a support pack for an add-on into SAINT if you are also installing the add-on package at the same time.

but basically, you use SPAM to applu patches and SAINT to install add-ons.

hi eric,

you are saying , we can not apply add-on patchs from SPAM.

but as far as my experience is concerned it can be done.

there is no issue in that.

kavitha, this is not what I said.

you must install addons with SAINT

but can install patches through SPAM

to install patches for addons, you also go through SPAM

only exception where a mix is tolerated: when you install an add-on for the first time with SAINT, you can apply its related support packs at the same time

Hi Kavitha

SAP enque will not allow you to use both things at time

as you said you want to patch basis 13 from SPAM then at the same time if you open SAINT it will tell that already it locked by userin SPAM tcode and vice versa

Hi,

SAP Add-On Installation Tool (transaction SAINT) was developed to enable users to install and upgrade add-ons directly from their standard SAP system. You do not need to access the operating system or restart the system. Prior to installation, numerous import conditions are checked to ensure that only add-ons that fit the available SAP system can be installed

Support Package Manager (transaction SPAM) provides you with an easy and effective way of importing SAP Support Packages into your system

before import any support package it is better to read the corresponding sap note,

during import of support package you can not use another SPAM/SAINT

it is better to avoid import ADD_ON and support package together
