startsap issues "unable to get the database running"

I Have finished my installation successfully but I cant get sap to start. Below is the error log file:

Directory permision problem I think.

Do a:

chown -R oraSID:dba /oracle/SID/920_64/rdbms/audit

Please logon to the OS as the ora<sid> user and try to start Oracle directly using sql plus / other database tools. Apart from other files, also check the Oracle alert log file. Only when the database opens, then try starting from SAP tools.

The previous recommendation for searching OSS notes for the SQL error is valid. Also check to see what your passwords are. I also noticed that it tried to reconnect using the default password.

Is your OPS$ user setup valid in Oracle?

Thanks All!

I managed to get the database and R3 started by renaming the oraclient directory to its default name. I had changed it because of some errors I had during the installation.

I can dpmonn, gwmon and all seems to be ok.

I am unable to get a sagui connection to my appserver

host name: apmls11 msserver: sapmsA5P dp running on port 3200. Tried to connect to the server directly and it times out.

I have opened the ports on my router. just wondering if I should enable incoming connections for those ports on my YAST firewall at the OS level! should I?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

try to run 'R3trans -x' and examine the created trans.log file in the current directory for further messages.

Hi Damien,

seems that you have a NLS-Problem. As you can see in the log file there is an ORA-12705 error.

Goto the SAP Service Marketplace and search for notes containing ORA-12705. Check these notes (e.g. 592657, etc.)
