Pbm in File adapter..Post Sp14

Hi

I have a strange pbm with my fileadapter after SP14..Normally without File content conversion, the adapter works fine and is able to send the XML message to Integration engine..But in a Content conversion mode(from a delimited flat file), I dont see any message in the adapter engine nor the integration engine..

In the RWB adapter monitor I just see this msg,

which is the minute-by-min polling trace.

I am not able to capture the error or success message for the file picked up anywhere?? Source file has disappeared from the directory.There is no entry in message monitor for adapter engine and integration engine.neither do i see any in SXMB_MONI..Where could the msg go???

I dont see any msgs being stuck in the queue too..

Well, we found our problem ( Dede Logan and I ).

When you are trying to find a file in the sender comm. channel that is on the mainframe, you can't put just anything in the directory field in SP14 like you could in SP12. You have to put the FTP user ID in the directory field if it is a file from the mainframe. We did this and it worked. Note - This ended up being a mainframe issue and had nothing to do with File Content conversion. I know this probably does not solve Sriram's issue, who started this thread, but it is some free mainframe advice anyway.

Hi Sriram ,

You could be facing this issue because the adapter is picking up the file, and trying to process it, but is not able to recognise the key fields... and thus not able to create an output XML. Check if the conversion parameter values (especially the Key Field Values) you have specified are in quotes. If so, then remove the quotes and try again.

You were right on!!! It got solved yesterday, there was a extra space in the content conversion value for Header in the file adapter,due to which the paylaod was not recognised..I wonder shdn't this trailing space be trimmed by adapter??

Also I would expect the adapter to have atleast a WARNING or ERROR FLAG in the adapter monitor to state that msg couldn't be sent to integration engine, though the file was processed!!!!

I faced a similar issue last week. We would find the file moved to the archive directory without any message showing up in the integration engine. Had us puzzled for quite a bit.

I agree, it would be useful if the adapter could at the very least throw up a warning that no message was found or generated.

We have checked the Key Field Values and we do not have quotes around the fields. We are trying to pull a file from the mainframe. And it is having issues. I have errors in the applications.log.... the field Directory path on the file adapter is mandatory field. but the Mainframe does not have file paths we just refer to the dataset name. In SP12 we were able to put a . or .. or /. in the directory path and it would find the dataset a process the message. Now we get different errors depending on which value we put in the Directory path....

I feel it is something to do with connection parameters from AE to the pipeline.The files might be picked up by the adapter and would not be able to deliver it to IE.Just check the exchange profile parameters too.

pls check these...

are you having issues with other "sender" adapters or is it just the file adapter?

Did you try creating another comm. channel with file adapter and check whether there is this same problem ?

Do you have any other modules in the adapter modules tab of your comm. channel other than the standard module for the file adapter?

Hi Sriram,

I think there might be a problem in connection from the adapter engine to integration pipeline.In SXI_CACHE ,Goto AECACHE and you should be getting a URL pointing to AE.

Otherwise check the port in the XI business system in the SLD wether IE pipeline entry is proper and make it in sync with sxmb_adm and port should be abap stack port 8000 or 8005.

And also try viewing the visual admin logs .

Thx for the tip..The configs look ok on SLD,SXMB_ADM and AEcache..Have asked the basis for XI logs..But I am chking to see if this could be a licensing issue..as I can see the expiry date as null on the services tab..Will update if i get a solution.I am sure thr is no pbm with adapter because the file is moved to archive folder with timestamp but I cant see the msgs in moni or rwb and its not stuck in the queues either..

What does MDT says, after archiving the message does it throws any error while trying to put message to Integration Pipeline.

You can also try to resend the message from RWB and see if it is reaching Integartion engine.

The pipeline url for integration server (business system in SLD) should be correct

We just updated to support pack stack 14 also. We have tested most of our interfaces and the only one that is having issues is the file adapter when we have the file content Conversion turned on. We are able to process interfaces with the FTP adapter, RFC adapter and the JDBC adapter. The file adapter will not recognize a file that is out there waiting to be picked up. This interface is working for this file when we test in a SAP XI system that has support pack 12. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Dede
