Hello
We are working with ADS on Netweaver 2004s/SPS13. There is an old problem with ADS which persists no matter what we try to fix it.
The Adobe Document Services don't work properly when started for the first time after Netweaver 2004s has booted and we get the infamous "java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out" - error.
After this fist little disappointment, however, the service is working fine - until we reboot again, of course.
Miscellanous SAP notes didn't help ( 867502, 811342, 826419), unfortunately.
Could there be an optimization issue? What about the pool size of XML Form Module or other parameters? Is there anything we can set up in our ADS configuration (in Visual Admin) to fix this?
Kind regards and thank you very much for your precious time.
Yours
Bettina
Hi,
Default pool size for XML Form module is 4. This can be increased to improve the performance.
For more info refer to this link - [XML Form Module|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/93/3807c1b6fe4592b57fcb27272d0862/frameset.htm].

Hello Srikanth KV
thank you so much for your answer.In the document you're refering to it says:
"We recommend that you set the PoolMax value of the XML Form Module to the maximum numbers of processors used by your application."
How can I determine the number of processors used by the application?
The server is running on a 2 Duo Processor Computer, ergo there are only two processors. Does that mean that I should decrease the PoolMax-value? And will my performance problems be solved if there are LESS Pools?
Do you have any experiences with changing the Pool Max value (sideeffects)?
Are there any other ideas or experiences on this issue?
Kind regards
Bettina
Hi
An OSS-Note helped! Thanks to the SAP-support, we learned that we had to change the configuration settings for the ADS protocol:
>You can set the used protocal at the following place:
>HTTP for webdynpro:
>Visual Administrator -> Server -> Services -> Configuration Adapter
>here:
>Webdynpro -> sap.com -> tcwddispwda -> Propertysheet default ->
>sap.protocolSchemeForADSCall >> custom value: HTTP
Explanation:
>please read the note 838111
>in your case the the protocoll is http because you dont need ssl.
Thanks for helping!
Kind regards
Bettina
