Unable log on to Integration Repository and Integration Directory using VPN

Hi Experts,

I was trying log on to Integration Builder( IR & ID) and able to fill username and password. However, after filling the logon screen, it was given me the errors :

  • Unable to connect to server hostname:portnumber. Check server availability(SERVER_NOT_AVAILABLE)

  • Cannot open connection on host : IP address and port : portnumber.

FYI, I could able log on to SLD & RWB and we are using VPN to connect into our integration server.

Do you have any idea on these problems?

Hi Simon,

For this you need to do the following:

1. Install latest version of Java Web Start in your system.

2. Add the entry in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

as <ip address of xi server>:<host id>

3.Add the same entry in

Internet Explorer, Tools-->connections->Lansettings-->Advanced.

You need to check and set the firewall settings in your web browser.

Hi Johan

follow these steps

1)kindly go to windows folder / system 32 /drivers /etc/host file

give the entries of your server IP and host name and save the file again.then definitly you will be able to login

2) also check your firewall setting that these sites has been added in your favourite site

hope this may solve your problem

depending on the Java web start version, find out from which menu you see the settings for proxy. Set the proxy to None when using VPN.

Thanks for your reply.

Currently, I am using java web start 1.4.2_01 and proxies had been set to "None" but still could not able to log on IR & ID. However, I could able logon to SLD and RWB.

Please give any idea on this problem. Thanks.

Hi Johan,

just ask your network guys to check whether port 50004 of your XI-server is open or not................if this port is not open, then ask your network guys to open this port of xi for you.............then when this port is open and your network speed is good, then you will be able to log into IR and ID of your XI server.
