Hi SAP Gurus
Please tell me, What is the Difference Between Alternative And Parallel Sequence
Regards
Rohit
Generally in routing 3 types of sequence are present which are standard, parellel and alternate sequence.
Alternate sequences are linked to the standard sequence which is the main sequence. The place where alternate sequence starts from the standard sequence is called branch operation and again the place where it joins the standard sequence is called the return operation.
Parellel sequences are set of operation which run parellel to the standard sequence, for example in a chemical industry for analytical processes that occur parellel to the main production process.
Alternate sequence consists of set of operations other than the standard sequence so that either of the sequences can be run for a production process.Generally branch operations in the standard sequence are ingored in this process

Dear,
In simple terms, Alternative sequence is we have 2 different production lines and either of one can be used.
Parallel sequence is we have 2 different production lines and the production qty can be devided into 2 production lines.
Please come back if required.

Hi,
Alternate sequence: Name itself indicates it is alternative to the standard sequence.
The production flow is different for certain lot-size ranges
For instance you can machine a work piece on conventional machine or on NC machines. A NC machine has a longer set-up time than a conventional machine. However the machining costs are considerably less. Therefore whether you use NC machines will depend on the lot size.
Parallel Sequence: It is the sequence of operations that is parallel to a sequence of operations in the standard sequence.
A parallel sequence enables you to process several operations at the same time. A parallel sequence is carried out at the same time as the corresponding section in the standard sequence. It is a special form of overlapping operations.
Alignment Key plays an important role in the parallel routing....
