Good Day

A Couple of question regarding “Create Business Partner Roles”.

1) When you assign a person to a Business Partner Role (example: BUP003 – Employee), are authorizations being added to that user?

2) Is there any reference material regarding Business Partner Roles?

3) Should we be creating new Business Partner Roles that reflect our business?

Thanks All,

Regards

Don Newton

Dear Don

Please use this link for explanation of Business Partner roles: http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/e9/1f393c3eb3036be10000000a11402f/frameset.htm

1. In general creation of a business partner in a role does not translate to addition of authorization to the business partner. Can you please be specific which industry / solution you are using? That particular solution can have some implementation of Business partner, where the answer could be different.

2. Reference is given above.

3. You can create a new role for your business. Lot of SAP implementation do that.

But you have to be very clear why you want to do that. It makes sense to do it in some scenarios when the standard roles do not fulfill your requirements. Otherwise, the effort might not have a good ROI.

Many times you can customize the standard roles itself which can be successfully used in your business scenarios.

If you are using CRM solution, the following note is also very useful, but for accessing this note you must log on to SAP service market place.

Good Day Rakesh;

You are correct, I should have explained how we were using this. Let me try.

We are currently setting up Solution Manager / ChaRM to handle all of our regular maintenance cycles (4 per year), implementation of BI and an upgrade to ECC6. We will be populating Solution Manager with all of our business processes and business process scripts.

Our staffing breakdown is approx. 75 developers. These are broken down to 25 ABAP programmers and 50 configuration specialists.

Approx 20 BASIS people and 5 people in the project office.

I need to define (approx 100) people as some type of Business Partner to be able to have issues assigned to them.

As a “working assumption”, Team Leaders will have the authorization to create and assign issues.

I have been asked to look into Team Leaders to have the authorization to create transports (via ChaRM).

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Rakesh
