Hi Gurus,
I got a chance to work for integrating MES ( Manufacturing Execution Systems) with SAP R/3 system through xMII.
a) I am new to this kind of scenarios...Can anybody suggest me the best practices for the same?!!
b) How does the communication happend between these two systems ( i,e MES and SAP R/3 through xMII)? what are the adapters going to used for sender and as well as Receiver?!
Need help Urgent?!!

Hey,
Can anybody help me out for the same?!!!!!!!
As per my understanding...MES directly connects with xMII and from xMII it will communicate with the XI and corresponding SAP R/3 system.
The communication between xMII and XI would happend through HTTP Adapter ( SOAP) and the corresponding SAP communication through RFC/IDOC ?!!
Please correct me If I am wrong?!!!!!!!!!

Hi Stallin,
Yes you are almost right.
Many adapters are available. Depends on your connecting system version and your choice to use a particular adapter.
Examples are
1) MES( databases)-->xMII(web services)->XI(RFC,Web Services)>ERP
2) MES(Web Services)--->xMII(web services)->XI(RFC,Web Services)>ERP
............
.........
Totally depend on your requirement.
Just go through this thread. Even I was having same confusions.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Piyush
Hi,
Please check first that MES can be Integrate with R/3 system without using any middleware (XI or XMII) also.
You can use BAPI - IDOc scenario for the same.
