Startup and shutdown sequence in MSCS clustered EP

Hi,

We are running an Enterprise portal in a clustered environment with 2 nodes (HA). Please advice the best practice

on startup and shutdown order and procedures for the instances, SCS, CI and database and cluster (nodes).

This is essential for maintenance and patching.

Thanks and regards,

Hi,

Always the standard procedure to starup the system is first any database will start when you start the system, then start the central instance, then the dialog instances.

While stopping the instances first stop the dialog instances then the central instance.

Hi Vamshi,

Thanks.

When we are planning on doing database maintenance. And we have enqueue replication server in place, when do we shutdown the replication server ?

After the database has been stopped ?

The SCS has to be shutdown using cluster manager - is that correct ?

Then finally shutdown the cluster group ?

Please clarify?

Thanks

Hi,

Your wish you can stop using cluster manager or using script.

You should always shut your central instance lastly, enque server should be also shutdown before the central instance,as far as i know.

Vamshi.
