SRM-MDM Basic Questions

I am new to SRM-MDM and I have the standard delivered catalog repository. While looking at the catalog items main table I am confused what are the mandatory fields we need to populate and what are the fields has reference to the SRM system.

Can someone explain to me in detail of those mandatory fields in the MDM main table “ Catalog items” what are the fields related to SRM system. I assume product category, supplier, product ID has to exist in the SRM system. Is this correct?.

Is there any documentations I can refer to?. I will reward full points. Any help will be really appreciated.

Hello Mike,

Yes, you are right. product category, supplier, product ID is field of SRM.

For better understanding of the whole SRM MDM catalog, Please refer the SAP tech ed PDF's related to it.

Hi,

Yes the fields in repository are SRM fields.Depending on your requirement you can set the no of mandatory fields.For eg,u want product ID to be mandatory ,make it required in MDM.
