Dear Expert,

I am trying to setup a new 4.7 system with oracle 9.2 system and copy the source DB from another system on Windows 2003 environment.

I have managed to recover the database and tnsping and lsrcntl status showing the listener is running fine.

When i execute the R3trans -d system prompted me this message: -

TNS-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process

TNS-12546: TNS: Permission denied

TNS-12560: TNS: protocol adapter error

TNS-00516: permission denied

32bits windows error: 5: input/output error

I have did some research in the net about this problem: e.g.

Request to the oracle service owner must be system.

Hope you can help.

So you installed a complete system, shut down the database and then restored the content of another database? Or did you use the homogeneous system copy approach (http://service.sap.com/systemcopy)?

I am using the 1st method.. backup, restore and create control file. The database is up after recovery. and OPS$ user implemented.

Could this be an issue. the source DB is on 9208 and the new sis that I install is only 9202..

Thanks for your help.

Yes - source and target MUST be on the same level.

You have objects in your Oracle dictionary from 9.2.0.8 that are not known in 9.2.0.2.

Ok. let me get this up to the level and come back with status.

Thanks.

Could I go direct from 9202 to 9208? or do i need to follow the step by steps...

No - you can upgrade directly from 9.2.0.2. Since the database was already opened, I´m not sure, if the upgrade scripts will run. You may need to re-copy the source if it fails.
