IDES 2004s installation

I am planning to install SAP IDES 4004(s) Oracle 10g on ORABOX and Application(APPBOX), I installed Oracle on One ORABOX ,IN second step do I have to run sapinst on ORABOX or on APPBOX ,Is Oracle Client instalation required on APPBOX

I Selected the Distributed Installation for Oracle 2004s sr2

install Global Host on Application Box

Install Database Instance on Orcale Box

Install Central Instance on Application Box

Instance is unable to connect to Database

disp_work server turns on for while and then turns off

Sys Log Says

SAP-Basis System: Message server disconnected

SAP-Basis System: Initialization DB-Connect Failed, Return Code 000256

As you can see from the posted error message:

Your Database is not running.

1. Verify that the Oracle listener is running, using "lsnrctl -status"

2. As ora<sid> run "startdb" or use SQLPlus to "startup database"

After you have started the database, proceed with the "sapinst"

Hi Praveen,

as far as I know the Oracle client software installation is done by SAPinst on all platforms.

Hi,

Yes oracle client is required. However, it will be automatically installed by the installer.
