Hi,
we have configured ALERT and there are lot of messages piling up in ALRTDISP since last one year.
Question 1: Does huge number of Alert messages cause any harm to functioning of SAP XI?
Question2: We want to DELETE all these alert messages (NOT the Alert) in Production environment.
Can you please let us know if there is any transaction code/program to do the same in production.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rehan
Hi,
When u configure the Alert catagory in ALRTCATDEF tcode there is a option called expiry time in min so after that amount of time the alert message wil expire.
Just check the same.

Hi Rehan,
Question 1: Does huge number of Alert messages cause any harm to functioning of SAP XI?
answer: it depends on the total Alert inbox size limit that has been set.
Question2: We want to DELETE all these alert messages (NOT the Alert) in Production environment.
Can you please let us know if there is any transaction code/program to do the same in production.
Answer: you can maintain a fixed recepient while configuring alerts in ALERTCATDEF. then go to SU01 and enter an email ID, now what would happen is after an alert is raised, they will sent to the email Id that you have furnished. The time after they will be moved is the expiry time that you set in, as told by Chirag.
Thanks,
Varun
