Hi Experts,
I'm currently working on an EIC implementation project, but we seem to be running into one problem after another. Currently we are experiencing a showstopper of a problem because it appears to be impossible to save an activity. After confirming the employee in the webclient and filling in all the required fields for an activity, the save activity function does not appear to work. After clicking on 'save and update activity' button I get two green messages, one saying that the activity was saved and the other that not all objects could be saved. I also get a red message that the activity was not saved. The latter reflects the truth as no activity gets saved.
We are working on a SAP ECC 6.00 system with EHP 2 installed and with service package level 5.
I also have access to a test system from my own company which has EHP 2 installed without any further service packs, and saving an activity works fine there.
I've been breaking my head to find any differences in customizing that could cause my being able to save an activity in the one system but not in the other. However I've been unable to find anything. If anyone could shed any light on this problem it would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Erwin van 't Hoff
*PS my translations of SAP terms and fields may not be 100% correct as the webclient I'm working on is available in Dutch only
We had the same issue and I would review the case management section as that is what we did to resolve ours.
In addition I would check out www.eicexperts.com as they have participated in multiple implementations and have a lot of expertise.

Could you give me a little more detail of what you did in the case management section of the IMG to enable you to save activities?
I know for instance (by having the luxury of access to two systems) that it is possible to simulate the same error if you do not assign the EIC activities to a number range. However we have assigned the EIC activities to the standard number range on the customer's system and it is still not possible to save activities.
This is what we did.
1. Go to IMG->SAP NetWeaver->Application Server->Basis Services->Case Management -> Create/Change Case Record Model.

Assign a new Case Record Model to a Case Type
Follow exactly the following steps, otherwise you can damage several EIC Activity functionalities:
46. Go to TA SRMREGEDIT.
47. In the Registry Entity tree navigate to: Application Registry->S_AREA_CMG->SCMG_SP_CASE_RECORD->HREIC_SPS_ACTIVITY_RECORD
48. Double click on HREIC_SPS_ACTIVITY_RECORD
49. Go to Connection Parameter Values tab.
50. Switch to change mode.
51. Select line with Parameter ID : MODEL_ID
52. Click on Create
53. Select in the ID three: RMS_ID->HREIC_ACTIVITY
54. In Change Parameter Value pop up press the F4-Help for Parameter Value
55. Select your new Case Record Model
56. Click on continue
57. Save
58. Go to IMG->SAP NetWeaver ->Application Server->Basis Services->Case Management -> Define Case Types
59. Select Case Type 'E_AC' line and click on Details
60. Switch to Change mode
61. Click on F4-help of 'Case Rec. Model'.
62. Select Area ID 'S_AREA_CMG'
63. Select the new Case Record Model.
64. Save
On a side note I would high recommned having one person on the team that has been through an ERP EIC implementation in the past as there are lots of "gotchas" and areas that are very complex.
Hi Trainee
If you are on EHP4 there is no need to follow those steps as they were only to resolve issues in earlier versions.
You have to ensure you have all the base configuration set up for the Employee Interaction Center to start working. What is the specific error that you are getting.
Regards,
Jarret
