SMD Error. Urgent Help please

Hi experts,

I have installed SMD_AGENT in Java server, I can see the agent in solution manager, but the status is showing START_FAILED.

Here are some logs.

jvm_SMDAgent.out : this showing that the Agent is Running, but question is is it pointing the right way? since the pointing to sapms://*****.com' on port 8100. Is it not should be like this >> http://***.com' on port 8100?

I was not able to find jvmx.jar file in /USR/SAP/SMD/EXE. Do you think this could have a problem? If yes, Any idea how can I fill this file there?

Hi

What is your system specification. The values mentioned above are for 64bit.

Xms2048M -

Remove -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB 1 (if mentioned twice)

You can try reduce the values and restart the Java engine

Check the logs after that.

Hi,

(OS: Win Server 2003 Entreprise, ECC 6, SM 4.0 R2, SMD agent V 10)

Actually I am having the problem when I log into the SMD and I go under monitored systems --> Agent Admin, the page is blank and no agent is detected.

I followed all the configuration steps, and even I reinstalled but no fix.

I checked the jvm_SMDAgent.out and it shows a an exception as in the log below:

Do you see the agent connected in SMD.

logon on to SMD http://host:5xx00/SMD

goto: Diagnostic Administration -->Managed systems - Agent Administration.

If it is not there then one can fix up the agent configuration with the commands:

su - smdadm

cd /usr/sap/SMD/J98/SMDAgent

setenv JAVA_HOME /usr/java #point to your correct java home

./smdsetup.sh /usr/java SMhost 5xx04 smd_admin password

There are 5 parameters past to this script.

/usr/java This is you java home directory

SMhost This is the solution manager server name e.g. sm.comp.com

5xx04 This will be your port for smd e.g. 50004

smd_admin User name

password password for user smd_admin

with SPS13 the java library moved. If you have this problem it can corrected.

Any further suggestion? Should I try reinstalling SMD_AGENT or redeucing the values of Xms and Xmx?

Hi

2048M is recommend for Xms and Xmx. Can you please paste other JVM paramaters here pls. You can try reduced it to 1024 and give a try

You can also look at note 723909 for the JVM parameter settings

The warning for jvmx.jar can be ignored. The error is not due to this. This warnings also appear where systems are up and running.

Can you paste the logs of

dev_jcontrol

dev_server0

dev_bootstrap

I have paste dev_jcontrol log and Since it's SMD_AGENT, There are no dev_server0 and dev_bootstrap available.

Hi Afi,

I dont see any problem in the log, except the http error you mentioned. Another thing which come to my mind is to check the -Xms -Xmx parameter. What is the current value?
