Regarding Region in Customer General Data

Dear SAP Guru's ,

I have added a new region to the country OM (Oman )

01 Muscat.

from SPRO> NEtweaver> General Settings-->Insert region.

But After Inseting the region :

the warning message appears"Check Data and proceses dependent on new country.

I have checked the message from the message bank

It says "Customer is from an EC country; specify a VAT reg.no."

What Should I do I do not have any vat configured in my company code...

please advice
