Hi Experts
We are trying to install SAP ECC 6 IDES on Solaris 10.
It is taking almost 3 days to get installed. Can anybody tell how to improve the installation time.
Is there any configuration to be done in solaris 10 for faster installation.
Regards
It is not unusual to take some times to install SAP application
(including the time for errors and applying patches).
Most time consuming parts are
- importing data into DB
- applying patches on SAP
For both what I always thinking is the I/O performance and CPU.
CPU might be difficult to improve as it comes with the hardware and always costs additional money:)
Regarding the I/O throughput especially for DB file and logs there are some rooms to be optimized. If you have serveral physical disks connected to the server, you may think about using volume manager to distribute I/O load on several disks.
If the server is connected to storage sub-system the disks are to be striped by using storage subsystem architecture.

Hello,
It would help to know what step the installation is in, what is taking such a long time ? Is it the ABAP load ? The Java Load?
Some basic things to check are your JDK (for Solaris reference note 716604), your userlimits should be set to unlimited, and that you are using the latest versions or R3load aad Jload and Sapinst.

David
