Hello,
I have three question. Thanks for your response in advance.
a) Is there an extensive MDM training given by SAP?
b) As a part of MDM, are there ready made Master data pieces built in to MDM (like Vendor master, Material Master structures ...) which needs to be enabled if required kind
<b>OR</b>
Is it that we need to build our own structure for any Master data that we maintain? (like Fields like Vendor #, Vendor Name .... for Vendor Master)
c) I have heard from some contacts that Master data in MDM captures Global level information rather than the ORG level. Is it true? If so, for single R/3 instance, R/3's Vendor Master can serve the purpose than MDM.
Thanks,
Ramesh Balasubramanian
Thanks Markus Ganser. The elearning site is very useful.
By the by, is there any place I canfind help on building a prototype?

Hi Ramesh,
Currently, publication of installation and configuration information is intended for controlled use in implementation projects, and won't be published in SDN. If you are involved in an implementation project, please contact your local SAP contact person for more information on that.
Kind regards,
Markus
Hi Stan,
Reference documentation about SAP NetWeaver MDM (i.e. reference guides for the individual front-end components - MDM Console, MDM Data Manager, MDM Import Manager etc.) can be found on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdmgds55/helpdata/EN/index.htm.
Implementation-relevant How-to Guides can be found on the SAP Service Marketplace at https://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000073631&.
Information about installation, configuration, and operation of SAP NetWeaver MDM can be found at https://service.sap.com/instguidesnw04.
Hope this helps.
Markus
Hi Ramesh,
Currently, MDM training will be given only at a limited level including consultants involved in implementation projects. However, customer training is planned to be set up in due time. For the time being, please check the information on SAP MDM provided in the SAP Help Portal: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm200/helpdata/EN/2d/ca9b835855804d9446044fd06f4484/frameset.htm.
There, you will also find information on the master data objects on the Master Data Server (such as Business Partner, Product).
Generally, SAP MDM is intended for consolidating master data in heterogeneous landscapes with several Master Data Clients (MDCs).
Kind regards,
Markus

Another pool of information on MDM is the e-learning area under https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/developerareas/mdm.sdn?page=el_mdm.htm.
