significansce of Installed Products while Technical System creation

hi gurus,

could you tell me what exactly Products mean while we creating Technical systems in System Landscape Directory?

What if we wrongly specified any product? (i.e. for a NetWeaver2004s if we select some other product what will be the effect?

Hi Nikhil,

Mentioning not exactly same software components description in SLD does not have a adverse effect, however please refrain from this practice since SLD serves as a central info storage and could be misleading for your team.

as shantanu mentioned, there is no references to what products are installed in an SLD Technical system entry, but for easier understanding(documentation).

Hi Nikhil,

I had faced the similar situation, i could not find thw my exat installed components. I choose different components/versions it worked with out any problem.
