PI SLD versus Central SLD

If I have a local SLD installed on PI what is the best practice for the location of a central SLD?

Should it be on the PI instance or on a CEN monitor SLD like Solution Mgr?

Thanks

Its always better to maintain a seperate SLD for Production Systems.

Or one more way is one main instance as a data supplier and other local SLDs.

Hi Thomas,

why do you think it's better to have a separate SLD for production?

I prefer to have two central SLDs - one for non-production and one for production on standalone Java stacks w/ standalone gateways with HA features. If you configure SLD on a production business sytem, any performance issues or maintenance plans will impact your other production applications that use the same SLD. You can configure your landscape to use local SLDs and a central master SLD, but that's more maintenance, but probably makes sense for large installations.

Mike,

I read you question again:

so you are using one local SLD and another for other systems?

I'm not then getting point of your question..

Hi Mike,

I don't think there is something like best practice for this. The SLD is shared across NetWeaver components (and other systems possibly), so it can be located anywhere, where Java WAS is running.

But I personally prefer SLD on the box where PI is running, because PI is a middleware and they match logically together.
