Any one can explain Y only Kmat material should taken for configurable. Y can't we take NORM and make all the features with equal to KMAT material Type,

in the basic data 2 view of the material master you have a field Material is configurable check box. If you tick it, irrespective of the material type you can use it as a configurable matearial.

You don't have to use KMAT. As long as the material is "configurable" you can use a different material type. HALB or FERT are common. (Semi finished or Finished goods). It can depend on a lot of other things. If when complete you can actually stock it in house, etc.
You do not want to use NORM, because it really is not a NORM type of material
