Hi,
Is it possible to put an assignment right after the start step? I tried and the workflow did not alert that there is a problem but when I launch the WF I receive an ERROR status.
thanks,
Tal
Hello Alon,
Once you checked out the record, the record will not be avialable to modify or delete or any operation.
If you are checking out the record by user say for ex as Admin, then only this user can only perform all operation and in workflow, record by deafault as "Check out Exclusively" and the next step user can only join those check out record and can perform the operation on records and so on...
Your problem because of checked out record.
Hope this will help you.

Hi Tal,
CheckedOut Records is the only reason for the error. Because once you have checked out a record then it is not wrong to say that the record does not exist in MDM and hence your assignment will not work.

Hi,
Can u specify the error it gives you after check out?
After check out have u checked in/rollback the records in stop step.
An assignment failure for any record causes the step to fail and the task to have an Error status. You can then make any necessary changes, right-click on the Assign task, and choose Perform from the context menu to perform the assignment again; or right-click on the Assign task and choose Next Step from the context menu to move to the next step without performing the assignment.

I investigated further and found that the problem is when in the start step I checkout the records and then run an assignment. If I do not check out the records in the start then all works well.
help anyone?

Hi,
You can use Assign step after Start step in workflow.
One current limitation is that one workflow needs to be designed per assignment. In other words, if you string together multiple assignments in a single workflow, it results in a SQL command execution error on the database. One efficient way to do it is to attach the next work flow at the launch property of the stop command of previous workflow. Also You can assign only individual assignment expressions, and not a group. This is unlike validation expressions where you can assign a validation group to the validate step.
