Hello Friend ,

Only account group is a mendatory field in Customer Master . But then you can only maintain General Data For the customer because sales org data and compony code data is specfic to sales area and company code.

Hi Raj,

Whenever we create Customer Master In VD01 or XD01 we should give all these details though they are not mandatory but then you will be able to fill only Genearl Information Tab for that customer not other ones as Company Code and Salea Organisation are required to fill Company Code and Sales Area tab.

Kindly Note that Account group is mandatory that we have to maintain.

Hope this information helps you.

Hi,

Yes..to create a customer ,it is necessary to have

1.company code -It is at the highest level

2.Sales area-Since it is a medium to deal with the customer and track the record.

3.Account group-It will decide the the functions assigned to the customer. ie.Billing only, shipping only...

4.Partnet determination- It will determine the functions performed by the customer ie. sold to party,BP,SH,PY etc.

Without the above input,a customer cannot be created.

A customer master determines behaviour of a customer for specific tasks.

hi,

look at it from the business point of view. Like if you only create a customer master with general data with no company code data and sales area data you cannot do any transactions. Since transactions are done at sales area level sales org, dis cha and div are required and postings are made to company code so it is also required to make any meaningful use of creating a customer.

Dear Raj,

The Company code will be assigned to the Sales organisation only.

You can create customer with out assigning the sales organisation to the company code, but you can,t maintain company code data to that customer you can able to maintain only Sales area data.

Account group is necessary to create customer master and that account group should have been assigned to some Partner determinationm procedure.

I hope it will make you clear

Murali.

Welcome to SDN

Yes, of course, It is mandatory to define company code and sales areas before creating customer master at XD01.

In standard SAP, always a customer exists in a sales area which is linked to the company code.

Hope it is useful
