Dear Friends.

I needs install application server in a heterogeneous.

My configuration :

OS AIX 5.3 / 64 BITS

DATABASE DB2 UDB 5.3 FIXPACK 15 / 64 BITS

SAP ECC 5.0

I needs install application server in a heterogeneous in windows 2003 R2 64 BITS.

I see notes sap 592747, 28781, 680617, 80266, 711093.

Could you explain following paragrafh.

On UNIX, release the /usr/sap directory as SAPMNT. To do this, use SAMBA or a comparable tool. The user who is performing the installation on the Windows host as well as the <sapsid>adm and SAPService<SAPSID> Windows users created during the installation must

have read and write authorization on this share directory and its

subdirectories.

I not use SAMBA for policies company. I use Microsof Unix For Windows.

I send estructure my product SAP.

Hi Alexander,

This is my undertanding,

1.On unix system folder "/usr/sap" is just renamed as "sapmnt"

2.When you setup a heterogenous system,

When ever you are pointing to Central instance, you specify this way,

*
<systemname>\sapmnt\<SID>\SYS\profile*

When you specify this,

User should be a "Domain user" to acces the Central instance profile. It should

have read, write access for all teh systems that are part of the

heterogenous system setup.

3.Also,ensure you select "Domain installation" as an option during installation and not "Local installation"

You can refer this note forpossible OS/DB combinations to be used

Hello,

SAMBA is the server Program which connects Windows to Unix file systems. This is required to copy the CI Kernel files to Windows Application server.

Please go thru any guides on SAMBA Server .

Hello,

This is NOT correct, UNIX executables cannot execute in Windows. SAMBA is a UNIX file sharing utility that allows you to share directories on UNIX with Windows.

/usr/sap should be accessible to all application servers for reading start up profiles and share transport files.

SAMBA will allow you to share directories between UNIX and windows.
