Hi Sathish,

Prerequisites for MDM from the learning point of view:

You do not need any special skills or SAP background knowledge to start with MDM as MDM is a configuration tool.It deals with Master data and it consolidation and harmonization.

It is used to solve the many problem faced in businesses due to incorrect masterd data.

A fair knowledge in Portal,PI,Java Api,SRM,CRM will help as MDM is all about integarting with different systems.

If you have knowledge in Backend systems as Oracle ,SQL etc it will help as MDM behaves like a backend database to store the master records.

Prerequisites for MDM from the installing and implementation point of view:

MDM installing package can be downloaded from Service market place along with the installation guide.

You need to have

- MDM server installed

- Four gui's of MDM ie Console,Data Manager,

Syndicator,Import manager

- A Data base like oracle

Along with the MDM package you will find many other application which you need install. This info will be provided in the Guides.

Hope it helpedKindly reward points if found useful

Thanks & Reards

Hello Sathish,

To make it clear i''d liek to share something about data and MDM.Data is the food for any system to run and master data is the heart of that system.Master data is that crucial information on which all your business process run.If your master data is not in proper shape the analytics run on them will be incorrect as a result the business decisions taken will be wrong and this will result in a complete failure of your business.

There are many ERP systems existing today but very few provide an effective, systematic and fool proof method to preserve a single version of truth odf your master data.

SAP MDM address this problem and so is here today to bring all your master data under one roof.

So,in general, benefits of keeping Master data in 1 place is

Conformance/Auditing

Single view of customer

Global data synchronization efforts

Accurate reporting

Consolidation after mergers and acquisitions

Reduced effort to consolidate information

Reduced cleansing/mapping of information

Increased efficiency

Reduced costs overall.

with this much details you can refer to the URLs which have detailed infomation about every aspects of MDM:

Hi Satish,

As per you have chosen very hot field. As far as prerequisites

are concern there is no such prerequisites but you should have some knowledge about database, it's connectivity and some ABAP basics.

And there is no such coding in this field. it is purly Table driven structure.

MDM is basically a very good tool for Data Consolidation and Harmonization.

You may find this information useful.

Please Reward.
