How to copy roles from one client to another or between systems

Hello All,

I want to copy roles between clients and systems.

What I tried was, I downloaded a role which saved the role with extension name .sap & in another client I tried to upload it to get a message - "The file does not contain any valid data".

Can anyone suggest me apart from creating RFC connections?

pls check if the role does contain authorisation values, and was generated before downloading.

also make sure you have enough authorisations for down/upkoad. including all objects for role maitenance on value star

Hi Satyajit,

Through SCC1 transaction we can transport role between clients.

Through STMS we can transport role between systems.

In se01 create customizing request and assign to the role and them transport it.

You can do other way also download and upload

the steps is as below

1) tcode PFCG

2) create role Z_xxxxxx

3) SAVE it

4) then go no to Menu -Role _Download -SAVE role with name .sap

then move to other system

follows the step 1 to 4 but just select UPLOAD insted of download

and give the file name.sap

Hi,

You can transport roles from one client to another client.

In t.code pfcg under role tab you can give role name you can find tansport icon(truck)by clicking on that you can find 2 options where you can select personalization and the it will ask for request by clicking on new request number will be created automatically.In this way under one request number can transport as many roles.And then release transport request in se01.And then ask for transport.
