hi,

no need go for addon in connecting ur business system to XI.

think thats for XI 2.0.

just configure the XI 3.0 SLD with the R/3.

once u configure ur SLD ur business system is ready to use.

u can go for RFC ,proxies or IDOCS in establishing data flow between R/3 to XI.

Thanks & Regards,

Rama Krishna

Hi all

Thanks for quick replies

i need to use proxy comunication between R/3 620 system and PI (XI version 7 )

RFC connection is working between the systems.

Do i need the appint add-on on the R/3 620 system for proxy?

Hi,

>>Do i need the appint add-on on the R/3 620 system for proxy?

If your SAP R/3's WAS< 6.20 means you have to do this activity.

If ur SAP R/3's WAS is >=6.20 means not necessary.

Check this for refference

How do you activate ABAP Proxies?

According to your link - in the weblog it is written that in web as 620 the add-on is required

according to this note - 721160 - if problems occur between web as 620 add-on with xi 3.0 a sp upgrade of the add-on is required - although this note is about xi version 3 whereas my xi is version 7 it looks to me that no matter which version your integration system - if your business system is 620 and lower - the appint add-on is required.

am i mistaken?

Hi,

Follow the same what i said ,

You need the Add-on installation incase your SAP R/3's WAS is not >=6.20.

Hi,

Yes looks to me the same, as the proxy should run on the business system and not on the xi.

> if your business system is 620 and lower - the appint add-on is required

I thought it's like that, but i never had to use proxies on 620 until now and Seshagiri seems to be very sure about it.

Hello,

as i know you will not need the appint add-on to connect to XI in general as you can use for example RFC and IDoc for communication.

You need this add-on only for using (ABAP) proxies, because proxies starting with 6.40 and if you are on 6.20 and want to use proxies you need this add-on.

Hi,

If you want to connect the SAP R/3 to Xi means we have the RFC's between these Applications.
