Urgent help on Oracle 9 databse

Dear Gurus,

I am installing the R/3 4.7 Enterprise Ext 2 SR1 On Windows 2003 64 bit version & processor is Xeon 3.4 Ghz (AMD).

I am planning to install oracle 9 on this system but there is no supported kernel for Oracle 9 on windows x66_64 64 bit operating system as per the Note 814834.

I wanted to know if I install Sapinst for 32 bit on the 64 bit OS it will work or not ? If it will then is there any performance issue ?

Waiting for the reply.

Thanks & Regards,

Sachin Sable

Hi,

On X86_64 you have to install the 64-bit Oracle version for Windows Server 2003 X86_64. The 32-bit version of the database is not supported on this platform

Note that there is currently no 64-bit support for the x86_64 platform for Oracle 9.2 because Oracle does not provide a 64-bit DB client

so you should go with oracle 10g.

further check Note 976457 - Oracle 10g Support on Windows: 4.6D-Based SAP Systems

Hi,

If you install Oracle 9i in 64 bit system it will give error because there is no 64 bit client available for oracle 9i.

So, best way is go for Oracle 10g.
