notification

Dear Guru's

1) Can any body tell me what is the exact meaning of notification and how can confirm it?

2) In my scenario at the time of Result Recording we are rejecting some quantity and it's going to rework how can I map it in SAP by notification?

3) wat are the steps for that?

Please suggest me.....
