Error at phase Installation status: failed

Hi,

i am getting problem in phase Installation. please look into the below error:

PREPARE: START OF PHASE SHDINST_CPY

You have the alternative to use the profiles

from a test upgrade with identical environment

for the so-called shadow instance. If you choose

this alternative the profiles will be taken from

the subdirectory <save>.

Please also refer to the upgrade manual for more details!

Do you want to take the profiles?

when i choose yes, i am getting this error "SEVERE ERROR: copy of C:\usr\sap\put\save\SHDINST.LST failed"

if i choose no, its running but at the end i getting this error

"'Installation' status: failed".

Please see file C:\usr\sap\put\log\CHECKS.LOG

for the actions which have to be performed.

So do you have that file in that directory from a previous upgrade? If not, then donu00B4t choose "yes".

Please check the dev_disp and dev_w0 of the shadow instance.

As you can see, the shadow instance can´t connect to the database and thus fails to start.

Hi,

Have you entered the SAPR3 password correctly as an input during the PREPARE steps ?

If you have not then the SAPR3SHD user will also be created with incorrect password.

Hi,

You can create the shadow user using the following SQL.

To create a shadow user, proceed as

a. Logon as <SAPSID>adm

b. Copy the script crshdusr.sql from directory /usr/sap/put/bin to directory to %oracle_home%/database/.

c. cd %oracle_home%/database/.

d. sqlplus /NOLOG@crshdusr.sql SAPDEV

Hi,

Thats ok,

But have you repeated the phase? See what might have happened is you first gave input as YES and then received a severe error. So that error was generated. Later on you gave input as NO and went ahead but the error log was not overwritten.

So please repeat the installation phases again and give proper inputs.

Such things do happen in SAP Upgrade.
